For the Love!

Last night my friends and I went to see Dixie High School's Les Miserables. (Christina, are you glad you moved before this girl's night could happen?) My friend Alicia and I especially wanted to go because we were in it when they did it 7 years ago. Plus I had 2 nieces in it this year, and another niece playing the flute in the pit. I was impressed by the performance, it was way good, (except for Javert's suicide scene which was a little awkward, but I guess 7 years ago they weren't as worried about him getting injured by actually falling off the bridge as they are now since they had to fake it). My nieces were amazing too, I love seeing plays they are in and getting to be a proud aunt!

Besides it being totally weird to go back to my high school, and to watch the play and having anxiety attacks remembering the stress of the quick changes and mic swaps and (Okay... I was only a "female soloist", so that was the extent of my stress, but still...) It was really neat to "go back" and watch it from the audience.

That was until I got home and tried to sleep. I couldn't get it out of my head, and it wasn't the songs that were stuck, even though the entire play is singing... there are songs and then there's sung dialogue between them (okay, so more songs)... it was the dialogue running through my brain all night. Ughhh. I swear I went through the entire play in my brain. I didn't even know I still knew aaaaalll the words, what could I do with that brain space if I could just forget them? By morning I didn't have to suffer alone, since Tom and the kids had to suffer through me singing and singing (I do a good Marius, don't I Tom?) By this afternoon it was almost out of my head, and then in pops "But my friend you left so early, surely something slipped your mind..." Then it all started over again.

Maybe I shouldn't see any more musicals I have been in to avoid this, considering I've only ever been in two musicals it shouldn't be hard. ;)

You definitely do do a good Marius, my dear :) and a good every other character in the play... Oy. Hehe. I've loved listening to you singing it, and the few parts I know have been stuck in my head all day, thanks to you :)

Ha ha!! Isn't it weird what our brain can file away?

I love High School plays. Hillcrest always did a good one. I was never in any of them, I wasn't that cool. ;) But I always tried to get tickets and go. The first one I saw there was Peter Pan, I was in 6th grade! It was so good and a girl played Peter.

I really want to see what play they are doing this year, it might be a fun thing to take Will to. Thanks for the idea. :)

I am sad that I missed it. I like musicals and actually helped with sound at a couple of musicals when I was in High School. I am sure it was fun reliving your performance (too bad it was all night)!

I forgot you were in it, too! I was under the stage, so it wasn't like I ever saw anyone lol. How fun to go and see it! I wish I could have.
